Begin by heading north on US Route 1, turn right onto Squire Road, then immediately left onto Salem Turnpike. Continue north as it becomes Western Avenue, then Highland Avenue, until you reach Salem, Massachusetts. Take North Street/Margin Street north out of town, then make a series of quick turns: left onto Gardner Street, left onto Pulaski Street, then right onto Andover Street, before using the onramp to take Yankee Division Highway southwest.
This will merge with I-95, then use Exit 55B to take I-93 north. When you reach Concord, New Hampshire, go east on I-393, then merge onto US Route 202. In Northwood, New Hampshire, join US Route 4 and continue east, before picking up the I-95 north in Pease, New Hampshire. When you reach Bangor, Maine, use US Route 1A, Maine State Route 3, and Maine State Route 102 to reach Bar Harbor, Maine/Acadia National Park, before following the same roads back to Bangor.
Follow I-95 southwest to Exit 75, where you will briefly go south on US Route 202 before turning right onto Poland Spring Road/Maine State Route 122. When the road ends, go right on Range Hill Road, left on Cleve Tripp Road, then right on N Raymond Road. Turn left onto Maine State Route 11, then when it concludes, go right on US Route 302. On the outskirts of Littleton, New Hampshire, merge onto I-93 and continue northwest.

When it concludes in Colrain, Massachusetts, turn left onto Greenfield Road/Colrain Shelburne Road. Turn left onto Massachusetts Route 2 before merging onto I-91 and going south to Hartford, Connecticut, then follow Connecticut Route 2 east.
When you reach the I-395, take it south and use Exit 9 to visit Mohegan Sun, then follow it north to Exit 35. Go east on US Route 6 to Providence, Rhode Island, then continue east on I-195. Use Exit 40A to go east on Massachusetts Route 25, then, after crossing the Bourne Bridge, turn left onto Sandwich Road. When you reach US Route 6, following it south will take you to Cape Cod, while following it north will take you back across the river.
